Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has announced that there will be no stamp duty on homes selling for £500,000 or less; this temporary holiday will last until the end of March 2021.
Sunak's announcement regarding stamp duty relates only to England and Northern Ireland.
In the past, both of these devolved administrations have quickly fallen in line with stamp duty changes made by the Westminster government relating to England and Northern Ireland.

The property market is showing signs of recovery, with more homes being sold after the Coronavirus lockdown.
Even with Estate Agents working at home, homes sold increased by 16% - around 42,000 homes sold in April and 49,000 in May. Compare this to May last year with sales of roughly 100,000 is an average decrease of 50% from last year but sales are increasing steadily.
One expert has stated that on reflection of the pandemic, people are looking for outdoor space and stable internet connections as the way they do business has changed for alot of people.
